Slow Food in Greve


 Greve does it again


You cannot deny that Greve is bursting with initiative. Last weekend it was the Flower Show, this weekend the town is hosting its annual Slowfood market which highlights the produce of a number of Italian Comuni or towns, from Grumes (Trento) in the north to Positano in the south.

Abbiategrasso,Acqualagna,Guardiagrele,  San Miniato, Fontanellato, Orvieto,  Pianella, Castelnuovo Berardenga,  Cutigliano,  Caiazzo,  San Daniele del Friuli,  Levanto,  Positano,  San Gemini,  Castelnuovo ne' Monti, Novellara,  Grumes,  Barga,  Montecastello di Vibio, Castel San Pietro Terme,  Morimondo. And, from France, Bastide d'Armagnac!

Produce includes the best mozzarella and associates; parmigiano reggiano; tortelli and tortellini; bread; anchovies; San Daniele ham; truffles; artisan beers; gorgonzola; traditional balsamic vinegar; salame of all sorts; lemons and limoncello...

The weekend programme includes  talks, activities for children, musical interludes and even a festival of short films about Arts and Crafts in Chianti.

Local arts and crafts and produce stalls are also present and local shops are wholeheartedly involved...The occasion is festive but also strikingly tasteful.
